Innovate RAP Launch
TasNetworks proudly launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) on April 9, 2024, at the TIAGARRA Tasmanian Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Devonport.
TIAGARRA is one of the oldest Aboriginal operated Museum and Keeping Places in Australia, and the oldest resident structure situated on the Mersey Bluff. It was an honour for our team to be welcomed to this significant place in Tasmania and to join with the local community to make our continued commitment to reconciliation.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Six Rivers Aboriginal Corporation who introduced the day with a guided tour of TIAGARRA's cultural museum, offering fascinating insights into the site's significance for the Aboriginal community.
Following the tour, Aboriginal dancers welcomed guests with a traditional dance and smoking ceremony. Dave mangenner Gough then shared a reading from his book, luwa tara luwa waypa, while the talented dancers brought the story to life.
TasNetworks Chief Executive Officer, De Seán Mc Goldrick, closed the ceremony with inspiring words about TasNetworks' vision for reconciliation and the importance of taking concrete actions to drive meaningful change.
There are four stages of a Reconciliation Action Plan: Reflect, Innovate, Strech and Elevate. TasNetworks’ Reflect RAP was launched on June 2, 2021, at the Aboriginal Elders Council in Launceston. Through the Reflect RAP, we achieved positive momentum with Aboriginal engagement and reconciliation.
Our Innovate RAP is building on the success of our Reflect RAP, further embedding actions and intention into our daily practices to ensure we are proactively moving forward and making tangible changes.
